How do I get internet access without a phone line?

Posted on September 12th, 2009 by admin in access on line | 8 Comments »

I do not want to install a phone line in my home. I have Dish Network satelite and a cell from Cingular Wireless. How do I get internet?!
I am not interested in having interent on my phone. I want internet on the computer that I have at home…(not just on my cell) ~but thanks anyway~
how would calling the local cable company help when I don’t even have cable?

To get internet access in a reasonable way you’ll need either a phone-line for dial-up, or the appropriate wiring for some form of hi-speed internet (DSL, cable, etc.) that’s available in you’re area. For an exhorbitant fee you may be able to activate internet access on your cell phone, and use that phone as a modem. That’s usually a little faster than dial-up but really, really expensive (you pay per kb transfered…).

Can you use an AE All-Access Pass Reward in store and on-line?

Posted on September 12th, 2009 by admin in on-line access | 1 Comment »

Several people have told me you can use these reward certificates twice, once on-line and once in the store. (I know the coupon states one-time use, but I know it’s worked for other people). I just can’t remember which order you use it in in order to use it twice. If anyone has had success with this, could you please let me know? Thank you!

you can only use it once…..so use it wisely

So a hacker just used a buffer overflow on you and now has command line access to your computer then what?

Posted on September 10th, 2009 by admin in access on line | 1 Comment »

I was thinking of some of the things they COULD do and I was going to ask you ;) . They could use ftp and download a trojan like netcat or if they are smart THEIR OWN TROJAN THEY PROGRAMMED!! Or they could upload your files to their own FTP site. now you go??

Steal your passwords, make you pay money to get your system back…

What you can do>>

Switch off the modem.

Install a firewall.

Why must my daughter turn the pop up blocker off to access her on-line classes?

Posted on September 10th, 2009 by admin in on-line access | 4 Comments »

If you use Mozilla Firefox, here’s how to make a pop-up exception:

1. Click the Tools->Options menu item.
2. Click the Content page.
3. Click the Exceptions button next to Block Pop-Up Windows.
4. Put the website into the text box and click the Allow button.

In Internet Explorer 6 and 7:

1. Click the Tools->Pop-up Blocker->Pop-Up Blocker Settings menu item.
2. Again, add the website and click Add.

That should do it.

How can we access the Internet without a land line?

Posted on September 8th, 2009 by admin in access on line | 9 Comments »

Myself and 2 other students will be moving into a rented flat, and we are not sure how we can get Internet access on our Laptops.

We will not be having a land line phone, just mobiles. Mine is a Pay As You Go phone.

Would somebody be kind enough to let us know the best method for us getting Internet access. Also would we need to share a connection or would we need our own and pay the bills separately.

Thanks.

There are two choices:

1)USB broadband PAYG or contract. I am using 3 USB broadband PAYG, the only problem with this is only one PC may use it at once.

2) Contact Virgin about ‘Cable’ broadband, I used to have that when I was a student. The only problem with this is the cable coverage, virgin will tell you whether or not you can be connected. Its very fast, cheapish and reliable.

Which banks allow you to view actual DEPOSIT SLIP IMAGES in their on-line banking access?

Posted on September 8th, 2009 by admin in on-line access | 2 Comments »

Many banks allow you to see the check images; but what banks allow you to see the actual deposit slip online? Sometimes my tenant goes to the bank and pays his rent by depositing his payment into my account. He is only supposed to deposit CASH and not checks. I want to be able to go online and see the actual deposit slip image to see if he complied.

my bank does…TCF bank….but they are pretty crap
