connection to the internet from isolated locations without land phone line access?

Posted on July 28th, 2009 by admin in access on line | 4 Comments »

Does any one know how to connect to the internet from distances away from locations without the telephone e.g, farms, and where there are no communications line. Anything, any packages affordable by individuals to connect laptops to the internet similar to mobile phone network but less elaborate for individuals or a cluster of resident. Suggestions, please.

Clearwire may be an option.

Clearwire would be you most affordable, they are a Sprint Wireless network

There are USB plug-in Internet cards to use, but you must be within range of a cell site. Don’t know about being out of range of any communications like cell towers..? You would need satellite access.. (Rather slow, at least on cruise ships.)

There is mobile broadband, but if there is no coverage for hsdpa (what actually makes mobile broadband) it will not work very well and may be slower than dial up. You can get 15gb usage a month for £15 a month from 3, there is various other packaes from other mobile providers.
