Is your line manager allowed to access your Emails at work?

also if your account is locked and you don’t know your account details what information would local IT support need to verify who you are so they can unlock your account? Also can your line manager make a request to IT support to unlock your email account?

Except for e-mails to/from your psychologist/psychiatrist and/or lawyer, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy in the workplace.

IT support in my work place don’t need anything to unlock your account. If your line manager wants to access your e-mail – it’s time to start looking for another job or stop using e-mail as a private resource in works time.

Emails received at your workplace are the property of the employer. They are also entitled to have their IT people examine your computer as that also belongs to them.

The only challenge that may be made is if an employer monitors an individual or group of people more than others without a reasonable explanation for doing so.
