Why can’t I access any search engines from the Yahoo home page at the search line?

I have internet access via a Spring Sierra air card;email and browswer access via Yahoo. When I enter a specific website address I get access; however, when I enter a phrase or term in the Yahoo Search Line I get only a message that says "no connectivity" .

That part of Y may be down.
