BT want £125 to connect landline service, previous tenant had phone but bt say it wasn`t supplied by them.

I get my internet and TV with Virgin. No phone line needed!

How can I get internet access in general on a laptop when I don’t have any home or LAN based line to attach the internet to. My job requires me to travel very frequently, thusly I don’t have a home where my internet could be based. How can I get internet on a laptop if all I have as far as telephone lines go is a cell phone?

you don’t need nothing but an electrical outlet, just put the modem on any window….Its used Verizon’s MW towers, so you have very good coverage!!

I even take it with me on vacation in my car, we have great wifi in NC…

I drive around in my car looking like a nerd with my wifi-modem…..so I don’t have to pay for a 60 dollar a month Verizon broadband card!!

I want to change what lines are available for making outgoing calls. We have Lucent Partner 34D telephones. There are 11 phone lines, and I need to cancel 3 of them. So I need each extension to only have access to 8 lines.
I have the instruction manual, but I’m still lost.. any help would be appreciated!

well there are two ways to do this,first you can call your main phone provider and have them disconnected.that way you will not pay for numbers that are not being used.or if you just want to do a temp disconnect, then you can just unplug the wire that goes into the line cards.

i need to access my games command line parameter to make my cheats work i have no idea on how to do that im only 11!
you have too add devuser on the command line parameter and the game is starship troopers

Most games use the ~ key while playing the game(usually located in the upper left of your keyboard uner the esc button)

Not all games access it this way though. It would help if you said what game your trying to access cheats on.

Are you talking about your email signature?

If so, if you are using Yahoo Mail, go to Options > Mail Options > Signature.

If you are using another email service, there should be something similar (Options or Settings) that will get you to the Signature editing section.

I do not want to install a phone line in my home. I have Dish Network satelite and a cell from Cingular Wireless. How do I get internet?!
I am not interested in having interent on my phone. I want internet on the computer that I have at home…(not just on my cell) ~but thanks anyway~
how would calling the local cable company help when I don’t even have cable?

To get internet access in a reasonable way you’ll need either a phone-line for dial-up, or the appropriate wiring for some form of hi-speed internet (DSL, cable, etc.) that’s available in you’re area. For an exhorbitant fee you may be able to activate internet access on your cell phone, and use that phone as a modem. That’s usually a little faster than dial-up but really, really expensive (you pay per kb transfered…).

I was thinking of some of the things they COULD do and I was going to ask you . They could use ftp and download a trojan like netcat or if they are smart THEIR OWN TROJAN THEY PROGRAMMED!! Or they could upload your files to their own FTP site. now you go??

Switch off the modem.

Install a firewall.

Myself and 2 other students will be moving into a rented flat, and we are not sure how we can get Internet access on our Laptops.

We will not be having a land line phone, just mobiles. Mine is a Pay As You Go phone.

Would somebody be kind enough to let us know the best method for us getting Internet access. Also would we need to share a connection or would we need our own and pay the bills separately.

There are two choices:

1)USB broadband PAYG or contract. I am using 3 USB broadband PAYG, the only problem with this is only one PC may use it at once.

2) Contact Virgin about ‘Cable’ broadband, I used to have that when I was a student. The only problem with this is the cable coverage, virgin will tell you whether or not you can be connected. Its very fast, cheapish and reliable.
