HD DVD Players

So what is a HD DVD Player? Well HD DVD Players are units meant to play HD DVD, the second major format in the digital video era. Initially there were DVD’s but these failed to hold enough data to be usable as a means to display true high definition audio and video.

The capacity requirements for that would mean a new disc would have to be developed. Toshiba developed and promoted the HD DVD, but it ultimate failed in comparison to Sony’s now very well known Blu-Ray. However, if you find any of the HD DVD’s, you will need a specific HD DVD Player to watch them. Your Blu-Ray player will not be capable of playback unforunately.
