The Basset Hound has been used through the history of American and European popular culture. In February of 1927 Time Magazine put a Basset Hound on their cover. The article was about the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Basset Hounds have had big roles in movies, television, comic strips, and cartoons. The most popular Basset Hound character in pop culture is Droopy. Droopy was originally created in 1943 by Tax Avery and Fred Basset. Since then, Basset Hounds have appeared in many feature films and TV shows such as Tiny Toons, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Aristocrats.
